Art Kleiner is a writer, editor, educator, and the editorial director for the Fieldbook Projects; he was a consulting editor on the first edition of The Fifth Discipline and a coauthor of all three associated Fifth Discipline Fieldbooks. Since 2005, he has been the editor-in-chief of strategy+business, the award-winning management magazine published by the management consulting firm Booz & Company (www. strategy-business.com). Kleiner is the author of The Age of Heretics: A History of the Radical Thinkers Who Reinvented Corporate Management (second edition, Jossey-Bass, 2008), which was praised by Warren Bennis as “that rarest of books, one that is both important and a pleasure to read.” He is also the author of Who Really Matters: The Core Group Theory of Power, Privilege and Success (Doubleday, 2003), about which Jim Collins wrote: “Art Kleiner has uncovered a central truth about the way organizations work…Like any deep insight, it makes explicable what had previously been mysterious.” Writing on technological, cultural, management, and environmental topics, Kleiner has contributed to Wired, the New York Times Magazine, Fast Company, the Harvard Business Review, and many other publications. He is a scenario-planning consultant and a developer, with George Roth and Nina Kruschwitz, of the “learning history” form of organizational storytelling and evaluation. He is also a former editor of the Whole Earth Catalog and CoEvolution Quarterly. Kleiner is on the faculty of the ALIA (Authentic Leadership in Action) Institute of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the Interactive Telecommunications Program at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
